Blender Hair Tool Documentation

Hair tool helps you create non-destructive, procedural hair strands using Blender’s geometry nodes technology. It also enables you to modify these hair strands without losing them (as is the case with particle hair, xgen and Daz’s SBH system) and with the flexibility to use deformers like Set Radius or Align Tilt on them.

Its main goal is to help the user make a realistic looking, easy to rig, and customizable hair for characters, ranging from tight coils to Shirley Temple curls. The addon provides a lot of tools to make this possible.

The main Hair System Panel contains all the major functions and settings of the addon. Its layout is similar to the UI of 3ds Max’s Hair and Fur modifier. Each function and property has its own tab in the Hair System Panel. This panel allows you to control every aspect of the hair creation process.

There are several different hair types available: Curl, Wave, Braid, Straight and Clump. Each one has its own parameters, but most of them have common settings such as Density, Magnitude, Threshold and Orient. There are also some special settings that allow to create unique effects. These include:

Hair Drawing – it lets you draw a simple curve that represents the hair. It’s a bit tricky to use but it can be very helpful. It’s not as precise as a mesh but it is a great way to create basic hair shapes that are easily rigged.

Particles In Viewport – if this option is checked, the PRT hair will generate particles in the viewport and decouple them from the render-time spacing. This can be useful for previewing your work without overcrowding the viewport with too many particles.

Update Whole Hair System located in the General menu – this command updates all nodes, in all Hair Systems, for all active objects on the scene. It is not recommended to use this method for large scenes, as it may take a long time to run.

Please check the documentation on each plugin to learn how to use it. Some plugins have additional features, which are described in the manual. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to help! We are always open to suggestions for improvements and new features.
